Picture
With 2 FX slots per track extra plus the fx that can be used as before G-Stomper have left more room for creativity and dependence on having to mix outside of itself.
I love how it gets so regularly updated and always bringing something new to the table of real importance!
Remember that G-Stomper (and family) have a forum with an ever active developer there to answer any questions!

The update brings:

This new release introduces the long awaited per Track Insert Effects. Each Mixer Channel got two dedicated Insert Effect Units, which gives you a max of 72 new Effect Units in addition to the already existing 5.

Songtive - Composing tool.Band.Social network.

4/30/2016

A new application from the same developer that made "Piano Chords, Scales Companion" that I end up using fairly often (mostly for reverse engineering scales). It is kind of a band in the box app and as many new apps nowadays it comes with a collaborative function built in.
For free with in-app purchases...

Google Play info:

Songtive is a songwriting tool, band and social network for musicians of all levels. Songtive allows you to compose, experiment with arrangements for songs provided by the Songtive community or songs you have created yourself. It helps you to organize your favorite songs and chord charts, and to share them with your friends.
It's easy to use other users’ styles or drumsets for your own songs. Just choose your style (or styles) and Songtive will do the rest. For greater flexibility, you can create drumsets and attach them to your song, with different drumsets and styles for intro, outro, and the start/end of particular sections.
Choosing a style does not restrict you to one instrument. You can create styles to play flute for only the root note of song chords, adding another style to play arpeggiated chord.
Song Editor helps you to quickly find chords and set alternative names for them. If you don't see the correct alternative chord name, just send us your request and we'll add it at the next update.
You can use Songitve for lots of different ways - you can practice a song with the help of guitar & piano chords. You can create arrangements and use it as electronic accompany band or just use Songtive to compose a unique ringtone by exporting your composed music/songs as MP3 files.
See our video tutorials to better understand Songtive’s flexibility: http://bit.ly/1rSCTT7

Songtive Features:

• You can create, compose, accompany your own song/music and attach custom styles/drumsets. Songtive will do the rest
• Unlimited number of styles/drumsets
• Unlimited ways to use custom accompaniment created by you
• Wide set of instruments including: Piano, Guitar, Bass, Viola, Acoustic Guitar, Flute, Cello and others
• Convert your song, plus accompaniment, to MIDI/MP3 file or to use it as ringtone.
• Store your songs in Songtive cloud
• Songtive has read-only web access, allowing you to share your song/music with friends using Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or use the embed mode to embed it into your blog
• Flexible mixer to allow mute, solo or specific styles/drumsets in your song
• Share your records via Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.
• Change tempo, key signature, time signature, keys and instruments
• Guitar chords
• Piano chords

Enjoy, and stay tuned for more updates. This is only the beginning!

MasteringBOX - Android online mastering

4/26/2016

Hey they are based in my city Valencia Spain, so guess it has to be good!
To be honest it may be a dis-service to yourself to not learn how to master your tracks (I still suck at it) but if having no idea and/or being lazy this could be a good option.
The good news is that it is free to master to MP3 and M4A formats. Making it easy to test the quality and later master into full Wav with some other additions as well as can be seen in the press release below:

MasteringBOX is proud to announce availability of its namesake MasteringBOX mastering app for Android devices — the world’s first mastering app for Android, actually, allowing musicians and amateur producers to master their tracks using only a smartphone or tablet… and all for free!

MasteringBOX is an online mastering application with a smart artificial intelligence that can detect the dynamic and spectral characteristics of the track being mastered and apply appropriate adjustments, allowing amateurproducers and independent artists alike to master their song, podcast, or live recording.
The innovative MasteringBOX mastering website (www.masteringbox.com) was launched in May 2015 and now any Android user can also access all of its features by downloading the MasteringBOX app for free from Google Play.
MasteringBOX has recently made a remarkable number of improvements to its mastering engine, significantly enhancing sound quality in many different music styles due to better detection and processing.

Additionally, a whole new set of features have been introduced. Premium (PRO and Unlimited) account subscribers can use the ID3 Tag Editor to add song information — including title, artist, composer, and album — and also upload and crop an image for the song’s cover art. This feature is compatible with MP3 and M4A formats. Indeed, in addition to the WEB OPTIMIZED (MP3 320KBPS) and CD QUALITY WAV (16BIT/44.1KHZ) formats, users can now obtain a MOBILE OPTIMIZED (M4A 128KBPS) format master.
All users can download their masters in MP3 and M4A formats for free while a premium subscription is required for WAV format masters. Meanwhile, there is also a new ‘pay-per-track’ option; occasional users can now order an individual master in WAV format — no need to subscribe to a premium account for this purpose.

Accessing premium MasteringBOX features — both in the Android app and the website itself --
is simply a case of signing up for a PRO account at a reasonable €9 EUR monthly subscription (equivalent to €7 EUR per month when paid annually) for up to three uncompressed CD QUALITY WAV (16BIT/44.1KHZ) masters per month, together with EQ Control and ID3 Tag Editor & Cover Art. Thereafter, those needing unlimited uncompressed CD QUALITY WAV
(16BIT/44.1KHZ) masters could consider the Unlimited account option, offering exactly that in addition to everything else in the PRO account for €19 EUR per month (equivalent to €14 EUR per month when paid annually).

Can’t say fairer than that, surely?

Saying that, whatever paid-for monthly subscription a user may (or may not) opt for,
rest assured that the MasteringBOX Android app accesses exactly the same features as the MasteringBOX online mastering application, such as Loudness Control, EQ Control, and ID3 Tag Editor & Cover Art.
Users can log in or create a new account, upload their track, preview the master with before-and-after comparison, check their orders, download any previous masters, and much more besides… and all from the comfort of their favorite Android device.

Mastering. Made Easy.

The MasteringBOX app will run on any smartphone or tablet running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or higher; it is available in both English and Spanish and can be downloaded for free from the Google Play store here:

A new audio editor that tends to the more serious side of editing.
Guess it is a good alternative to Voice PRO / WavePad Masters edition (amongst some others).
Have not taken time with it yet but it seems easy to work with and comes with a bunch of effects and re-sampling.

The weird thing is the promotional video for this audio editor as it is mostly interested in showing the different ways it can show frequencies giving off a feeling that it is frequency visualizer and not an audio editor...

G-Stomper 5.1 - What is coming...

4/14/2016

Picture
This is definitively good news and on takes away one of the limitations of G-Stomper.
This is the message that the developer have broadcasted to the world:

Hi guys
Here's a little Sneak peek to the upcoming version 5.1.

You'll finally get per track insert FX on each mixer channel. It'll be two regular FX slots with a slightly reduced FX selection (no vocoders, no 1-band/2-band EQs and no delays).

No vocoders, because they only make sense if they can be side-chained, no 1-band/2-band EQs because they make no sense there (because there's 3-band EQ on each channel) and no delays, because they unfortunately use too much ram with their buffers.

But that's definitely the one and only downside of it.
Having two additional FX slots per track just ensures that you'll never again run out of FX ;). I've tested it yesterday with 20 concurrent reverbs on a galaxy s5 (using the GSS 5 demo song) and it was still running smooth.

Lebbeus Woods' The Fall - Album made with Virtual ANS

4/14/2016

The album is an interesting project and this is what is said on the Bandcamp site:

Originally recorded and produced in 2012/13, this album is the product of experimentation with a software synthesizer know as "Virtual ANS" - a simulation of the ANS Synthesizer created by the Russian audio engineer and inventor Yevgeny Murzin in 1958. The software simulation was created by Alexander Zolotov, and has - since its original iteration coded for PC - more recently been made available as an Android/iOS app.

This album was inspired by the preparatory sketches by and ideas of architect Lebbeus Woods for an installation exhibit. Using these sketches, and guided by the ideas detailed in his essay on the installation, I used the Virtual ANS to transform the sketches into sound, and then combined multiple layers of differently processed copies of each image to create these soundscapes. My goal is to create in the listener a deep, visceral, non- or pre-verbal experience of the ideas, as I understand them, conveyed in the earlier work by Woods.

As Woods has written elsewhere:
"If ideas were immortal, we wouldn't have anything to do. Because we die, and because knowledge can't be transferred directly, each person has to reinvent the form of ideas all over again. Our social existence is about helping each other to do just that."

Lebbeus Woods died on October 30, 2012. He was 72.

Bandlab - The collaborative platform now with Tree view...

4/12/2016

Picture
So Bandlab is kind of stepping on Songtree's toes and have implemented the same idea of a tree like structure/view of the progress of songs/music being worked on.
Guess that is good for us end users to have two platforms to choose from!

So for you that have not read about either platform-
The basic idea is to be able to upload tracks and people can join in and add to tracks or vice versa. There is some differences in-between Bandlab and Songtree which is a question of preference. I think that the idea is very cool though and it can lead to long time collaborations and must be very exciting for musicians that need more instrumentation and not having access to other musicians...
