This is an interesting app as it is packed with with different instruments and many parameters. It is meant to be used in conjunction with the developers Hardware Oval (hangdrum) instrument.
It is for free and if you want a library of sounds with an easy to play interface...

Google Play:
(So do not see it on the Play Store... DO not know why. Have it installed since some time... So feel weird posting this but here I am posting it anyway if somebody finds it on the play Store or if somebody have made an APK of this free app to share).

Will install it now...

Google Play:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rfo.harpejji&referrer=utm_source%3DBlog%26utm_medium%3DApp%26utm_campaign%3Dsale

A harpejji is a neat stringed instrument that has frets like a guitar but is finger tapped. The strings are tuned in whole steps so it is possible to quickly transpose a melody to a new key by maintaining its "shape". C notes are designated with a dot.

This app isn't meant to substitute the far superior real harpejjis but to give users a chance to learn and experiment with their unique chromatic layout.

Choose landscape (better) or portrait mode and number of frets (I prefer 6-8).

You can learn more about real harpejjis at https://www.marcodi.com

Worth spending a little bit of money for some real flavors...

Here is what the developer said about the video:
Another jam with Dragon. Trying to use the effects together in this one. Got the band-pass filter doing some melodic stuff in the second half. Audio engine coded in Pure Data.

Fang Synth -On Sale 2.69 from 4.69

6/7/2019

Picture
It looks... different and can seem over whelming but after further exploration there is a nice sounding synth and sequencer behind it all.
What makes it something special that is not available on any other app is that it is possible to link different parameters and values to tilts of the device! So perfect for live performance and recording.

Recommended for anyone using their device for music making.

Google Play:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thiiird.fang&referrer=utm_source%3DBlog%26utm_medium%3DApp%26utm_campaign%3Dsale

Fang is a synth app based on motion modulated control through accelerometer information. Each parameter can be linked to different directions of motion. Contains presets, wav recording, a stepped arpeggiator with diatonic scale locking, a multi-pattern sequencer, wave shaping oscillators, resonant filter with envelope and pitch locking, and an effects rig (including formant filter, pitched delay, reverb, down-sample, bit reduction.) Can be played by non synthesists as well: load presets and control sound through motion. Capable of strange sonic textures, complex evolving arpeggios, or classic synth sounds.

Full guide and video quick-start at thiiird.com/fang-guide

Control Pattern:
Each control has five sub-controls associated with it. The top, largest control is the main control and changes the actual value. The four controls beneath determine how much that value is changed by moving in each of the four directions. For an easier time understanding the concept, the video walk-through might be of help.

Notes are generated with a sequencer and keyboard.
The sequencer works by moving a step at the rate specified. There are four patterns that can be played and edited independently.
The keyboard has a set of notes that can be played or buttons which hold notes. Held notes can be cut off by sequencer notes of the same pitch.
The arpeggiator receives notes from the sequencer and keyboard. Its rate is controlled by both synced time and ms that are added together. It has variable steps, step transpose and gate. The steps and timing can be reset periodically with the optional arp reset. There is optional diatonic scale locking as well, allowing you to select a root note and scale from major, dorian, phyrygian, lydian, mixolydian, minor, and locrian.
The synth's sounds are generated with five voices, each with two oscillators that modulate between triangle and saw.

Modulation is effected by an envelope. There is a pitch envelope that effects both oscillators. The oscillators are capable of fm (osc B modifying osc A.) Both oscillators can have their signals sent to the filter or directly to the amp envelope. A white noise signal can also be added to the filter or directly to the amp envelope.

The filter is a 4 pole resonant band-pass whose frequency can follow the pitch. It is also effected by its own ADSR envelope. The filtered and unfiltered signal is sent to a per voice down sample and per voice delay under synth menu. All voices are sent to an effect rig with a formant (vowel) filter, pitched delay, reverb, and bit reduction.

File permission is for presets and WAV recording

Tinnitus Therapy ? PRO -Free for some time normally 2.39

Picture
Curious if it works. Do have slight tinnitus since many years in one ear... and now being for
free ... why not.

Google Play:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.spikything.tinnitustherapy.pro&referrer=utm_source%3DBlog%26utm_medium%3DApp%26utm_campaign%3Dsale

🔕 Stop the ringing in your ears with this groundbreaking proven notch therapy treatment.

How does it work?
First, we identify your tinnitus frequency, then we play what is called 'pink noise' with your tinnitus frequency filtered out. Listening to this every day can improve your tinnitus symptoms by forcing your ears to adjust for the missing frequency.

Really?
Yes, really. The science behind this new type of tinnitus treatment is backed by years of PhD research. Learn more here: https://www.spikything.com/blog/index.php/2019/02/25/tinnitus-therapy-app

Why get this app?
Unlike similar software available out there, I do not charge a monthly fee, nor impose any restrictions or time-limited trials on the app. I'll also be updating and improving the app as the community learns more about how to improve the therapy.

How to prove it's filtering out frequencies?
To see what the app is doing when it's running, you could use a Spectrum Analyzer, such as this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.spikything.speccy

Here's wishing you good hearing health. 👂

Virtual ANS 3 Now Released For Android!

6/6/2019

Picture
One of my favorite apps have now gotten a bigger update since some time.
Was thinking about it like a month ago and at the same time was thinking what could be updated since the last update was so great.
But yes of course it was possible and the two things that makes me excited is that it is now midi connectible not only for controlling parameters but also for using as a synthesizer with a dedicated synthesizer menu and that it is possible to set it for a better rhythmic algorithm.
The synth engine is not only great for general textures being playable but it does keep in the right frequencies as well only playing the frequencies decided by the notes played and it can also be decided which length to be played looped in whatever way chosen.
Midi mapping must be fantastic for anyone wanting to use Virtual ANS  in a live setting or for live recording.
Did not spend to much time with the new version yet but it seems to in general sound clearer and better than before.

Overall mighty nice...

But on a slightly sad note to get the new version having the older Virtual ANS it is not a free update and has to be purchased again.
Think that it is justified with the new capabilities.
Also have a feeling but do not know if it is possible to keep the older version working with the new update?
In either case the PC/Linux?MAC version is still free so it is possible to test the new functions before deciding if to buy it.

Will write a longer report on the new version in some days after spending some more time with it, specially using it as a synthesizer as it brings some new textures that is hard to get with hardware synthesizers or in software synths. Together with Spacecraft Granular (when it gets released) there is a big reason to use a mobile device for Hardware synthesists.

Google Play:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nightradio.virtualans3

Virtual ANS is a software simulator of the unique Russian synthesizer ANS - photoelectronic musical instrument created by Evgeny Murzin from 1938 to 1958. The ANS made it possible to draw music in the form of a spectrogram (sonogram), without live instruments and performers. It was used by Stanislav Kreichi, Alfred Schnittke, Edward Artemiev and other Soviet composers in their experimental works. You can also hear the sound of the ANS in Andrei Tarkovsky's movies Solaris, The Mirror, Stalker.

The simulator extends the capabilities of the original instrument. Now it's a full-featured graphics editor where you can convert sound into an image, load and play pictures, draw microtonal/spectral music and create some unusual deep atmospheric sounds. This app is for everyone who loves experiments and is looking for something new.

Key features:
* unlimited number of pure tone generators;
* powerful sonogram editor - you can draw the spectrum and play it at the same time;
* any sound (from a WAV file or a Microphone/Line-in) can be converted to image (sonogram) and vice versa;
* support for MIDI devices;
* polyphonic synth mode with MIDI mapping;
* supported file formats: WAV (only uncompressed PCM), PNG, JPEG, GIF.
* many new features compared to version 2.3; see the full list: http://warmplace.ru/soft/ans/changelog.txt

Grainstorm updated with more goodness (again)!

One of the unsung apps that exists out there and it got updated recently again with Multitouch support and Sidechain compression. Did not mention the last update that also made it possible to control it with midi. Unfortunately not to play notes with it but it is great for direct manipulation and it is possible to control it with for example G/Stomper, This I have not tried yet and do not know how that works tough.
In either case this is one cool and multi faceted sample instrument with a shitload of effects and possibilities. Plus being able to record/load into four different channels (but pushing it fully a powerful device is needed).
Have written about this some times now but if you never saw thesse posts think it is always good to bring it up again...
