KDJ ONE - A New Good Looking Workstation/Groovebox!

Picture
Have been holding on this for awhile as was hoping to get some response from the developers.
Anyway that did not happen (sad face).
But it does not change the fact that it is already one of the big Android music apps in the sense of being a full on workstation.

As each workstation app like this has its strength and weaknesses this one too of course.
Maybe the most glaring one is eight tracks only but think that it is enough for making full tracks with. The strengths are the very nice and flexible synthesizer engine and the workflow is excellent. Plus that there is sampler in there with direct recording and a simple editor.

So this is the app version of a hardware workstation that has been on Kickstarter and about now is starting to get sent out to backers. The app is still not officially released but anyone can download this "beta" version.
Spent maybe one hour with it and it seems to be all fine and smooth to me.
Must say it feels very solid.

What would be  nice to know is how much the full version is going to cost when released before spending a lot of time on it to find out that it will cost a lot later.
Personallye definitively think that it is worth at least what is charged for any of the great workstation apps already on Android. Will absolutely get this if not crazy expensive.

It is easy to get to grips with if having experience with more advanced music software/apps and will be able to understand all functions in half to one hour or so.
One thing that I did not find out that was mentioned in the manual was that there is supposed to be stretching algorhitms for samples.
The manual was for the hardware version though, but everything else seems to be just the same for the app version so it should be there as well.

The videos below are made for the hardware when it was on Kickstarter but like mentioned it seems to be a direct copy outside of real rotaries and keyboard. It works with midi keyboard though.

So hello KDJ-ONE and welcome to Android!

Ahh the lovely Pixivisor got an update. It has been a while since last time.
Good news with better video quality. It has not been an issue for me but it is always good to have the choice.

Update:

* camera selection and rotation (in the system settings);
* Android (4.0 and higher): System Settings -> Interface: new option "Hide system bars" for true fullscreen mode;
* max image size has been increased to 256x256;

Call For Submissions For Mobile Music Compilation

8/26/2018

Picture
This is what is said...
Australian Underground Electronic Music and Arts Collective Clan Analogue is seeking submissions for a new compilation album featuring music created using mobile tools.
Submissions are due by Sept 15, 2018.
Here’s what they have to say about it:
We are looking for music made with small, battery-powered, portable gear. Examples of used equipment might include (but are not limited to): iOS music apps, Pocket Operators, OP-1, Volcas, grooveboxes such as Circuit, etc.
While we are not seeking submissions of sounds generated with software synths running on laptops, submitted music can be mixed in a computer-based DAW, as long as all sound sources in your track come from external, mobile music making tools. Music mixed exclusively with the use of mobile tools is of course also welcome. Other creative ways of interpreting the theme will be considered.
As a general rule, tracks should be shorter than 6 minutes, but if you create a really cool longer track that doesn’t get boring we would consider it.

Audioroute - Sending Audio and Midi Between Android Apps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picture

This is BIG news!!!
And not in a maybe or not really as have happened before!
This is happening!
 Colour me excited!

It is the team behind n-Track Studio that developed this great event in Android music making history.
They developed one of the two serious DAW`s on Android that can also use USB soundcards for professional reccordings (the other one being Audio Evolution Mobile).
Think that they also are people that have seen that there are a lot of less competition on Android and now have tackled one of the biggest gaps in Android music making.

There are some kind of attempts before and now.
One by Peter Brinkmann working a full-time job at the same time and also not being fully developed with devices that was not good enough at the time it never took off?
Audio Evoution Mobile have plug ins made by Toneboosters but they are limited to only Audio Evolution...
Then there is Samsung with their high end devices that developed their own low latency solution and connectivity through their Soundcamp app that is interesting but closed off for any other devices not Samsung.
For that reason they have failed as the limitations in how many actual users that will use it have led to lukewarm interest from developers and also must say that Samsung themselves seem to not really take it seriously outside of the Looper app crap that is integrated.
Communicated a couple of times with the person responsible for Soundcamp and must say that he did not seem overtly enthusiastic and being doubtful about it even in the beginning!

Anyway Audioroute is developed and they have serious people and resources behind it. Plus that they already have a functioning DAW that will be the first to really take advantage of plug- ins.
And very important i that this is for free to implement for other developers!!!

They are now starting to look for apps and developers to add this unto their apps.
So this is a great oppurtunity for any developer to push the envelope but also to make a bunch of extra monies. Because the first apps will of course see an increase of installs.
It will be very exciting to see the first apps doing this and will report on all of them as this is next level fantastic!

Okay that is enough of me talking boring words.
Go read about it following the link below.
And remember developers for this to work and take us a into new territory contact the Audioroute developers, as said it is for free to implement!

audioroute.ntrack.com/news.php

App for testing Audiorouter:

play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.audioroute.hostsample

Here is what they posted on KVR Audio Forum:

n-Track Software has released Audioroute, an Android open SDK that allows audio and music apps to send audio and MIDI between each other, in much the same way as it happens on iOS and desktop platforms.
Audioroute makes it now possible to use a synth app inside a DAW, or send the output of a synth to an effect app, transfer audio between different recording apps and much more.
Audioroute is a system for routing audio and MIDI between Android apps. This means a user can simultaneously use different apps that generate or manipulate audio, and achieve unique combinations of sounds and effects.
Audioroute doesn't require any intermediary app. Hosts and hosted apps that support the SDK can be connected directly.
Audioroute is intended for musicians and music lovers who use Android smartphones or tablets to make music and sounds.
Developers can add Audioroute support to their audio apps by integrating the n-Track SDK, and make it discoverable by other apps supporting Audioroute. Audioroute is an open standard and the freeSDK allows to create both hosted apps (which behave kind of like plugins) and host apps.
Support for Audioroute is included in n-Track Studio and also in the Audioroute host sample app.
