So hoping that there is some more developers jumping on this!
Yapps it would be nicety nice if we could connect music apps for endless fun. From the developer: We're glad to announce that the Audioroute project is now open source. The full sources for the Audioroute core library and sample host are now available on the Audioroute Github page. You can now decide if you want to link to the Maven version of the SDK or build it from sources. Do you have any idea or suggestion on where Audioroute should go? Drop us an email! To get started with Audioroute check out the developer guide. Let's get our apps connected! Happy coding, Flavio This is great information that is good for anyone that is interested in using Android for playing synthesizer apps live etc and for developers to have a look at...
It is compiled by the developers of n-Track one of the main DAW's for Android. That i salso one of the two that have the possibility to hook up an external USB sound card for low latency professional recording as well. A big reminder to any developers that reads this... They have developed Audioroute which brings interconnection between apps on Android. It is free to use so please contact them so we can get the Android music eco system to the next level!!! https://audioroute.ntrack.com Here is what they say regarding their latency tests: Android devices audio performance chart This page shows the latency calibration results performed by the n-Track Studio app. Results are collected anonimously. Although the results are not scientifically accurate as each measurement is performed in different rooms with different acoustic conditions (as well as possibly different device volume settings), the results roughly represet the audio latency performance of various device. We also show wether or not a device supports the FastPath, which is an optional feature of the Android audio system, which can help minimize audio latency when the app uses the recommended FastPath settings. "base" FastPath should allow for 45ms or lower latency, while "pro" FastPath should enable 20ms or lower latency. In the device detail page, for devices that support the FastPath, you can toggle between showing all results and only results obtained with the recommended FastPath settings. We hope that this page will help orient users who care about realtime audio and want to identify devices that have good audio performance. Latencies are measured in milliseconds. And to see the results with clickable beautiful charts and suchlike: ntrack.com/android-latency/devices So it is starting... If you missed the news of Audioroute- It is the first open system (there was one earlier but with less support and there is Soundcamp that only works for high end Samsung devices) that allows for connecting audio apps like plug ins. The developers behind nTrack Studio is behind it and so now this drum machine can be used in that DAW. This is of course another reason to get n-Track Studio as the apps adopting Audioroute will be usable in n-Track as a DAW like one for PC/MAC/Linux with virtual instruments and effects. It will be very exciting to see what app will be next... There is a Demo version as well... Google Play: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.elliottgarage.newproject ElliottGarage presents EGDR 808 for Android, a drum machine that emulates the vintage hardware from the 80's. EGDR 808 ha been reviewed as one of the best drum machines on the iOS world, and it's now available for Andorid devices too. Its realistic and clear interface recalls the analog machine from the past, for all the vintage fanatics. You can play with the rythm presets included or you can create your own pattern, and save the audio in the Music folder of your device. Connect it with other Android musical apps and effects using AudioRoute! Features: - Interface like the real drum machine from the 80's - 16 steps sequencer - 12 programmable rythm patterns and 4 fills patterns - Auto fill in every 2, 4, 8, 12 or 16 pattern - Save the pattern you've created and play your songs - Manual Play, Pattern Write and Pattern Clear mode - Drumkit pieces parameters control (tuning, decay and snappy) - Export the groove into your device Music folder - AudioRoute* support Check the videos on http://www.youtube.com/ElliottGarage support: info@elliottgarage.com * AudioRoute Technology by n-Track This is BIG news!!! And not in a maybe or not really as have happened before! This is happening! Colour me excited! It is the team behind n-Track Studio that developed this great event in Android music making history. They developed one of the two serious DAW`s on Android that can also use USB soundcards for professional reccordings (the other one being Audio Evolution Mobile). Think that they also are people that have seen that there are a lot of less competition on Android and now have tackled one of the biggest gaps in Android music making. There are some kind of attempts before and now. One by Peter Brinkmann working a full-time job at the same time and also not being fully developed with devices that was not good enough at the time it never took off? Audio Evoution Mobile have plug ins made by Toneboosters but they are limited to only Audio Evolution... Then there is Samsung with their high end devices that developed their own low latency solution and connectivity through their Soundcamp app that is interesting but closed off for any other devices not Samsung. For that reason they have failed as the limitations in how many actual users that will use it have led to lukewarm interest from developers and also must say that Samsung themselves seem to not really take it seriously outside of the Looper app crap that is integrated. Communicated a couple of times with the person responsible for Soundcamp and must say that he did not seem overtly enthusiastic and being doubtful about it even in the beginning! Anyway Audioroute is developed and they have serious people and resources behind it. Plus that they already have a functioning DAW that will be the first to really take advantage of plug- ins. And very important i that this is for free to implement for other developers!!! They are now starting to look for apps and developers to add this unto their apps. So this is a great oppurtunity for any developer to push the envelope but also to make a bunch of extra monies. Because the first apps will of course see an increase of installs. It will be very exciting to see the first apps doing this and will report on all of them as this is next level fantastic! Okay that is enough of me talking boring words. Go read about it following the link below. And remember developers for this to work and take us a into new territory contact the Audioroute developers, as said it is for free to implement! audioroute.ntrack.com/news.php App for testing Audiorouter: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.audioroute.hostsample Here is what they posted on KVR Audio Forum: n-Track Software has released Audioroute, an Android open SDK that allows audio and music apps to send audio and MIDI between each other, in much the same way as it happens on iOS and desktop platforms. Audioroute makes it now possible to use a synth app inside a DAW, or send the output of a synth to an effect app, transfer audio between different recording apps and much more. Audioroute is a system for routing audio and MIDI between Android apps. This means a user can simultaneously use different apps that generate or manipulate audio, and achieve unique combinations of sounds and effects. Audioroute doesn't require any intermediary app. Hosts and hosted apps that support the SDK can be connected directly. Audioroute is intended for musicians and music lovers who use Android smartphones or tablets to make music and sounds. Developers can add Audioroute support to their audio apps by integrating the n-Track SDK, and make it discoverable by other apps supporting Audioroute. Audioroute is an open standard and the freeSDK allows to create both hosted apps (which behave kind of like plugins) and host apps. Support for Audioroute is included in n-Track Studio and also in the Audioroute host sample app. |
