It's a brand new year and we're jumping right into our newest feature. Our Creator Kits represent just one of a myriad of features that we've rolled out in the past weeks and you might have already tried them out. As we transition to BandLab 8.0 this month, we're super excited to share with you some of these huge features in the coming weeks. We know all you beatmakers out there will kill it on our new Creator Kits. And to give you a reason to share your best work with us, we're giving away 100USD and more cash prizes to the best videos we see on Instagram tagged with #creatorkits. See below for more details. Need to know more about the Creator Kits? Dive in now. You're probably wanting to learn more about the Creator Kits. Let's dive into every beatmaker's starter pack. What are Creator Kits? Creator Kits are preloaded sound packs arranged in a familiar 4x4 virtual pad controller format. They let you produce never-before-heard mixes in multiple genres such as EDM and hip hop. Available on BandLab's iOS and Android app, you have the freedom to create on the move. Just like every other feature on BandLab, the Creator Kits are free to download and use. Whether you're a finger drumming extraordinaire or not, the Creator Kits are a fun and easy to use tool to express yourself. Around the office, we found ourselves hooked trying to make the perfect beat. Here's what we came up with when we took it for a spin.
How to access Creators Kits
Head to your Let's Make Music page by hitting the + button at the bottom of your screen
Swipe and select MIDI Instruments If it's your first time here, you will need to download the Creator Kits. Select Discover, then swipe and tap on Creator Kits Here, you can download any Creator Kit in whichever genre you like. Tap on the play button to hear a sample of each pack Tap on your downloaded Creator Kit and you're ready to make some beats. Hit record When you're feeling ready to make your first hit with the Creator Kits, tap on the red record button at the bottom of the Mix Editor. Like all the other instruments and features on the Mix Editor, you can add effect presets to your sound. Simply hit the Fx button and select your effect, from gated reverb to crazy modulations, there's so much room for experimentation here! Try Multiple Layers If you're not feeling ready to do complex finger drumming, try putting down a simple beat first. Save it, and then loop that beat. Add another track and layer over the more melodic samples of the same Creator Kit. We can not wait to see what you produce on the Creator Kits. Post an Instagram video of yourself playing the Creator Kits on BandLab, hashtag #creatorkits. There are cash prizes for the best entries, which will be picked by a panel of judges at BandLab. 1st prize: 100USD 2nd, 3rd and 4th: 50USD each. We'll also share our favourite ones on our social profiles and on BandLab. Expect even more genres and Creator Kits in the coming months, we're only getting started. Check back our blog for the low down on our new features in BandLab 8.0. âMeanwhile, happy creating/finger drumming/beat making! This is their post stolen directly from their website...
(blog.bandlab.com/2018-bandlab-round-up-5-million-reasons-to-say-thank-you/) Dear BandLab Family, This month, our BandLab community reached 5 million registered users. That’s right – you are now part of a community of more than 5 million people in over 180 countries making and sharing music, collaborating with each other and fuelling a collective passion for music every day – many of whom have never even met in real life. It’s been about three years now since we entered early beta (time really flies…). Although we’re a team that constantly looks forward – when we hit milestones like this, we try our best to take a little time to both appreciate those who have helped us reach this achievement and reflect on why we do what we do. If you’re reading this, then odds are we’re doing it for you. Every day, members of our team connect with you over chat, email, read and reply to your feedback on Facebook, obsess over reviews left at the App or Play Store and we take it all in. As a community driven company, our job is literally to sit and think about how we can do better for you. We’re the first ones to put our hands up and agree when you think we’re not perfect, and we’re the last ones to give up on a problem when we know we need to solve it for you. Whether it’s praise or criticism, we take it all positively with the same spirit and mindset of how this all started in the first place: how can we make and provide the best tools for creators to make and share their music and to help them connect with similar like-minded people? As of today, the BandLab community is making close to 2 million songs every single month and this number continues to grow at an incredible rate. That’s more than one new song every two seconds – mind-blowing when you pause to think about it, and desperately scary for our QA & Backend Development teams . Our vision at BandLab is a world in which there are no barriers to the making and sharing of music – regardless of where you come from, what music you’re into or how much you earn. We are humbled by the fact that the growth of our user base, music creation and increasing engagement rate shows we’re delivering somewhat on what you (both creators and listeners) want and are looking for. But even though we feel we’ve come so far (those of you who were on the first early beta will definitely agree), what gets us up every morning is how much more there is to come. Over the coming weeks, (like you might notice today on the website itself) you’ll see big changes as we start rolling in features ahead of our official transition to BandLab 8.0 in January. This will be our biggest update yet and we have some massive features to release and celebrate – both creation-based and social. Those of you who are paying attention will have already noticed real-time Looper effects, Mastering on Mobile and Creator Kits (to name just a few) released to your Android and iOS devices in the last month. For those lucky enough to have early access to some of the latest features, you’ve already got a glimpse into what’s in store and I hope you’re as excited about it as we are. Looking to 2019, though no-one knows what other new excitements the cosmos of music technology will bring in the year ahead – we’ve got aggressive plans on what we want to deliver and are deeply grateful to have the chance and opportunity to be part of the process with you. As a team, we know there is so much more to improve with the platform and have never been more driven, passionate and inspired to do so, together with the millions of you around the world. To all of you who are part of this rapidly expanding universe of creators and listeners – a big, big thank you from myself and everyone on the team. When you succeed, you bring us joy – when we let you down, it crushes us. This company, product and community only exists because you have made it your own – so thank you again for giving us a chance and being the lifeblood that keeps us going. We’ll see you very soon in 2019 (maybe even in person at the NAMM show in Anaheim at the end of January) – we really can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on. Much love and appreciation, Meng & The BandLab Team. Here is what is said:

You can enter as many times as you like with different tracks, so long as they are published for the first time during the competition period. How do I win?
BandLab is FREE to use, you can sign up here, or download BandLab on your iOS or Android device. FYI: Your entry has to be published for the first time during the competition period. If you have a private track created before the entry period that you would like to submit, you can do so when you publish it – but unpublishing an older track and republishing it will not work. Editing an existing song’s description with the hashtag doesn’t count either! Lastly, LIKE an official BandLab Featured Collection of your choice to view the winning results! Submissions don’t need to be created during the entry period, just published for the first time – so even if the contest hasn’t started yet, you can prepare your tracks now to make sure you have a head-start when the contest opens! Bandlab the collaborative app/program are getting more and more active and expanding... After getting Sonar/Cakewalk that was going to be discontinued from Gibson, they have aquired the two magazines Music Tech and Guitar Magazine. Anyway if missing the news that Cakewalk/Sonar went free it is big news and now there is two free professional DAW´s to look into. The other one being Tracktion 7. The differences being workflow and that Tracktion is not actively developed. To get Cakewalk it is necessary to sign up for Bandlab but it does not seem that they molest you with spam or other craziness. It cost I think around 400 monies just some months ago! And the last update is a pretty big one... To read more and for download: cakewalk.bandlab.com/ There is three flavours and the one that is out now for ordering is Link Analog which looks like a nice audio interface and with a good price point- 59.99$.
It is supposed to play nicely with Android mobile devices but works with computers as well of course. To read more about it and if fancy takes you to order a unit or two go here: https://www.bandlab.com/machines/link-analog To read the whole article go here:
