uFXloops moving forwards steadily!
This update have added a lot of functionality and room for creativity!
- Major new FREE function: Voice Recording to the Beat
- Major new Premium function: Import of Soundfont instruments (.sfz)
- Major new infrastructure function: New faster and leaner samples format
- a lot of little improvements and fixes
uFXloops 2.0.8 released!Today we released version 2.0.8 on Google Play!
Here’s a short list of the new and improved functions of this version:
- Music Maker Jam Soundpool samples can now be filtered by their scale (1-7), this makes it a lot easier to select those with the same scale.
Info for new users: if you want to use MMJ soundpools, make sure you have Music Maker Jam installed and some themes downloaded. You can then use them in uFXloops directly, without the need of importing them as samples:
In the soundboard, click on an empty slot.
In the slot samples list, choose +MMJ Loop.
- Quick Search Tags for local samples:
You probably hate typing too much as much as we do. So we also introduced the quicksearch tags for local samples, providing some search ideas in the local samples list. Just click on them, if you want to show samples tagged with this tag.
- Community Categories as Quick Searches for community projects and instruments: once you hit the search field, these quick search buttons are shown to speed up your searches.
- Used instruments for community projects: this is very useful for users, who like the sound of a project but do not want to download the complete project, but some of its instruments instead. Just click on “Instruments” in the community search list for projects.
- Copy live recordings to SD card quickly: Via “My Recordings” on the Main screen, by hitting the new “Copy” icon for a live recording, you can copy it to SD card folder Music/uFXloops.
- Ping Pong Delay: This new effect variation is available as FX setting now. Long-click on one of the FX buttons in the Mixer tab to use it.
- High Pass Filter for Delays has been added.
- A clearer indication on all “FREE” stuff in all community lists has been introduced with the new “FREE” icon.
Have fun with this new version, any feedback appreciated.
For serious sample work this keeps getting better and better.
From their website:
Today uFXloops 2.0.3 has been released and published on Google Play.
This update contains two worthful new features and some fixes.
1. The soundboard has a new “instant” composing mode
This improves your composing speed a lot, because all the wait times until a slot queues and dequeues are gone with this mode. Slots still play synched but immediate with this mode. And you can still switch back to the “old” music mode for arrangements, live- and variant-recording.
2. Community Searches have quick-search tags now.
With these tags you can just search by clicking, no typing any more.
And for special searches you can still type in the search field.
We also fixed some glitches, e.g. with negative start bars, when stepping out of recorded variants, with some uneven slot queuing, the retry registration bug and so on.
We wish you a lot of fun with this new version of uFXloops
This is what is said on their website...
Sound Designers WanteduFXloops is opening the flood gates now :-)
Have Sounds? - Sound Designers wanted!
We cannot offer money - But we can offer to attribute your name and info in every sample, every instrument built with it, every mix. In the App. On Youtube. On Soundcloud. Wherever a song built with your sound is published. And the web never forgets - it is a constant promotion.
uFXloops works with Creative Commons licenses - in that case we propose to import your original sounds with a creative commons attributable license (commercial).
Your benefit: you’re helping a lot of musicians with that. You’re doing something good with it. And your name and website is promoted worldwide. We do not yet have a clue about this impact, I can only tell you that the App has a broad, worldwide reach.
What you need to do: just contact us. We can do all the work in uFXloops for you. Or you can do that yourself, if you’re willing to. uFXloops also allows uploads of your original sounds directly in the App.
Please let me know if you would like to do a collaboration with us. And please share to the ones who might be interested in that.
(and I know there are always some who say “hey look at this uFXloops guy, who wants everything for free” - but the truth is: we also feel that pressure. Our users want everything for free :-) So you see. Regarding sounds - we’re all in the same boat. We would like to promote quality and extraordinariness).
Thank you for listening
Seems to me that when it comes to work with samples uFXloops is maybe ahead in the game on Android with their latest updates.

Do not post much music anymore but always think that it is interesting when it is the developer that made the music.
Here is the YouTube description:
I produced this Instrumental Remake of the Daredevil Title Beautiful Crime by Grayson Sanders (Tamer) as a showcase for uFXloops and to express my feelings for this epic song. This version has been produced from the first note to the final production on a Samsung Galaxy S4 with uFXloops. The only post processing was to convert it to mp3 from ogg.
They have recently (more or less, a slight delay in reporting...) made new tutorials and written a downloadable manual that is possible to access here:
Plus there is a forum...
Got an email from the developer of uFXloops about a week ago and asked if it was okay to reprint part of it. But first just to mention for anyone that have not heard about the application I would say that it is for anyone working a lot with samples and it is one of the deeper applications for sample based music creation as you can see on their Play Store page:
Here is the part of the email that got sent:
We worked hard in January to deliver version 1.22 of uFXloops, a very stable release which contains the latest fixes after the milestone build 1.20 which we called the 'Living On Mars' Release.
The biggest news is that our community instruments section is instantly growing and over 110 instruments are already online. Please have a look at the new drumsets and melodic instruments. The Rhodes Stage Piano simulation is my personal favourite. But we also have a new Strat Solo Guitar and some Metal and Rock sounds will be added soon.
The Drums section contains a lot of drumsets for various styles now, so you are ready to create your trance, dance, pop, hip-hop, trap or house projects within a minute. And we will increase this instruments base significantly in the next weeks.
So anyone that works a lot with samples should definitively check this app out and specially now when it has added automation and effects into the mix.
Play Store info:
- Effects: Master Reverb, Delay, Highpass, Lowpass Filters
- Automation: Volume, Balance for each Slot Sample
- Shuffle Mode
- Improved Pattern Editors with Toolbars
- New Demo
- New SlotMix overlay while playing
- Better Tunable Percussion Notes
- Pads are now enlighted when playing
- sustained notes, sequenced slots
- and a lot of usability improvements
Here is a new demo song using the new effects and automation...
Freesound being one of the big resources for original and free sample material is also one of the cornerstones of the app uFXloops Music Studio as it has since the beginning been integrated with Freesounds.
Here is what is said;
Dare 30 - Support the developers
This is something I have thought about before, but never managed to turn into a dare. Until recently I was contacted by a developer.
Us Freesounders moan frequently about how many times people use our sounds and don't give us proper recognition. We moan about some of our sounds having many downloads and no star ratings or comments. We moan about how much work and effort we put into those things and so little we get back.
Well... here is somethig for you to think about
On average, maybe it takes you an afternoon to go out and do a recording session. Maybe it takes you a few evenings after that to cut up and clean your recordings. And maybe a few hours to upload, tag, describe into Freesound.
Lets say, 20h total.
This is NOTHING compared to how much time DEVELOPERS spend creating their DAW and plugin applications. 100s or 1000s of hours of their lives go into this.
And I am talking here about FREE SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS: the folks that do all of this and then release it for free on the internet.
How many times have you used free music software?
How may times have you gone back to the developer to say thanks? or to give useful feedback?
This dare is about changing that.
If you have an android device, I am going to ask you to download and use uFXLoops.
The developer, Andreas, has contacted me and we created this dare together.
You can get uFXloops here:
Here are some additional links
For questions and FEEDBACK:
Andreas will be active in the DISCUSSION thread to provide assistance, if you need it.
If you do not have an android device you can also participate, just pick another piece of free software and follow the rules.
(*)Also make sure you read the NOTE about using uFXloops at the bottom of this post.
1 - If you have an android device (mobile or tablet) please download and use uFXloops for your dare entry.
2 - If you do not have an android device, pick another FREE sound software to use. You can pick more than one, but keep it reasonable as you will need to follow the rules below.
3 - Make sure you can actually contact the developer (their website should still be active, there should be a way to submit feedback/messages or an email...) 4 - If you are stuck for ideas, why not use one of these:
5 - Use your chosen software, really try to explore as many features as you can.
6 - Contact the developer. Thank them for their product and provide feedback - This is the most important part of the dare. (**) - SEE NOTE BELOW
7 - Post your entry with a link to a music piece created with your chose FREE software(s). You can use other tools/software/hardware/samples also, but make sure your selected FREEE sofware plays a major role in your piece. If it helps, think that you have been asked to create a DEMO music piece for that software.
DEADLINE for submissions: 15 Nov 2014, 11:00pm GMT.
8 - Use this thread for submissions only. For everything else use the DISCUSSION thread.
(*) - There is another big benefit about using uFXloops in this dare. If you provide feedback, Andreas (the developer) will give you an infinite Premium account on uFXloops - This will enable High Quality Mode and make the app absolutely add-free.
(**) - NOTES ABOUT PROVIDING FEEDBACK
Above all, be considerate and polite. Remember the developer spent a lot of time creating the software, so even if you don't like it and/or does not work for you, try to give useful and polite feedback. Remember that any issue might be specific to your DAW or Operating System. Here is an example on how to complain about some features that you do not like or do not work properly:
"Hello X, thank you for taking the time to create the VST plugin Sound X. I like the distortion effect, but I found considerable latency when using it in Reaper. Works fine in Ableton Live. Also I found the filter to be a bit bland, there is no noticeable effect on the sound, except at extreme resonance settings. This happens in both Reaper and Live. I am using Windows XP on a 1GHz dual core laptop."

After two months, uFXloops passed the 10.000 Downloads mark on Google Play. The community is getting bigger and so is the number of sounds in the community of our sample-based App for Music Creation. Over 2000 sounds can now be downloaded directly with the App, and 40 instruments were added over the last four weeks. So creating music became again a bit easier, though we plan a lot of enhancements to make uFXloops better and better. Thanks to all our active users the community starts to live now. Our first active community members are uploading and sharing some of their original content, ready to be used and enhanced for your own compositions. Join now and download uFXloops Music Studio from Google Play, Special Bonuses are waiting for you until end of September.

uFXloops Music Studio
uFXloops have now reached their goal of all the basic functions that were planned and the most interesting addition is that you can upload whole projects that gets decomposed into the different samples or individual samples on the server. This also means that another user can download the whole project making it easy to do collaborations.
One thing that the developers are talking about is to be able to do this in a future update for private sharing making it perfect for music bands to work long distance.
The other update is that they introduced something they call " an anonymous user concept" for people that do not like the idea of registering.
So now that all the basic goals are covered it will start to be implemented with a more of fun stuff like effects and automation etc!
Here is the roadmap that they published:
Some of it has already been implemented and earlier than listed so maybe things is moving on faster than calculated!
In either case it is already a solid application and for anyone working with a lots of samples and loops it should definitively be checked out.
Play Store link:
Getting one video explaining all the concepts instead of the other tutorials that they have released may make things easier for many. If it still seems a little bit confusing it is not too hard if you download the application and play with it for a while watching the video. It is for free and totally functional and if there is a attraction to the app you can pay some money and get a higher audio quality export option enabled.
There is also a new update and one thing that is not so common is that they have made it possible to connect directly with their new forum directly from the application.
Another thing that is interesting is that if you sign up now for the community ( where you can download and share samples ) you get a thousand coins to spend on buying samples.
The samples do not cost much at all per sample. ( If I remember correctly it is about ten coins per sample which translates in real money to about a cent for each as you buy 1000 coins for about a euro/dollar. ) There is also around a thousand samples / loops for free.
In either case as said before it is easy to try everything out for free.
Version 1.07 contains a lot of improvements and fixes, the biggest ones are:
- Now we have a public forum(!) in the App for the Community, so you can get help from others quickly, view the News, Tips and Tricks, and post your own entries.
- Immersive Mode for Android 4.4 available now. You can switch it off in the settings
- You can now assign live recorded sounds to your projects and instruments, and play them in the lists
