Caustic 3.0 ALPHA Try it, learn it and help find the bugs.

So Rej (the developer) have decided to leave the ALPHA testing open for all and that started two days ago and already there is frenzy of people doing all kinds of stuff through the website and Forum of Single Cell Software.
Myself missed it with one day and saw it yesterday and did only have time to open it...
be amazed and play shortly with some of the new synths, effects and workflow enhancements...
The little that got tried is worth many posts and it is crazy-
Feel lucky that not all developers do big upgrades like this in one big swoop as it would kill the little extra time I have!!!
Because it is not only that there is new modules but also some good upgrades to what was there already.
Like for example,
that if in the Subsynth you drew your own waveforms you had to go out of the draw window and then play the waveform-
Now that is direct with a small piano keyboard underneath and you can have two different drawn waveforms in the same Subsynth patch.
Another thing was that now you can record notes with your midi keyboard... Look I am telling you if that was a upgrade this writer would have been very excited and happy!!!
But that is just one teensy itsy weeenie part of what Caustic 3.0 will be about!
Or what for me would have been a big big upgrade would have been the Modular Synth as that is so cool- But again that is just one of the new synths!!!
Truly there is something for everyone now.
If you want you can start playing with all of these excitement now, but have to remind you it is not even in BETA yet, so if you decide to do it be prepared for things being a little bit wonky and not all of the functions  working properly. Yesterday it crashed one time and that after not using it too much.
But on the other hand even if it is buggy and so forth,
CAN NOT GO BACK TO THE OLD CAUSTIC NOW!!!

To try and help with the development of Caustic 3.0
First of all you have to register on the Forum of Single Cell Software.
For this go here:
http://www.singlecellsoftware.com/forum

So there is two versions to play with in ALPHA state. One is the Android version and you download the APK but you still need a Caustic key to use it with save functions (Save song, Wav, Ogg and Midi) otherwise it will work as a Demo version without the bought license and you can try it on your P.C without restrictions... Also recommend that you follow the forum for learning and to help with the development of Caustic 3.0 as you can report bugs and other discoveries.
You can of course also wait for the BETA version that would be more stable and not differ too much from the official release.
You can expect a lot of Caustic 3.0 in Musical Android the months to come!
( Like there was not a lot of Caustic 2 since Musical Android got started... ha ha ).

To try it, fall in love and make good music and help with the development go here:
(But remember to sign up to the Forum first otherwise this link will be closed...)

Any word on when we will see the ability to record vocals?

Been an avid supporter since day 1. Been really pleased. This caustic 3 news is almost too much. Lol. Would like to see the ability to record vocals. Right now when im done with a track, i export it, and import it into to Audio Evolution to do vocals on the go. Not too difficult but if i could do it all in Caustic, id be too too thrilled

You will be able to do recording directly into the sampler.
Which will also come with a decent amount of editing functions...
Not the same thing... but something that I did sometimes is to record like you into another multi track and cut it up and then import into the sampler and in this way you can keep everything inside the app, But it seems that it is planned for a future update to include direct recording as multitrack recordings... can take some times before that happens though.

I am having difficulties recording vocals in caustic3 when using the vocoder. I know how it works but will not play the whole length of my recorded yrics. Everytime it passes one measurement it starts from the beginning again! please help!!

Hi.
There is some different ways to do this...
First in the piano roll sequencer window where you put the notes you have a small note symbol on top if you press it you will have the option to change the note length but you also have the option to make each sequencer clip to be extended up to 8 bars.
If that is not enough you could lower the tempo of the song to half and reprogram the notes but leave your vocals intact, this could be a lot of hassle if you have to reprogram a lot... but it would double the length of the sequencer clips...
the last thing you could do which is maybe the easiest in combination of making the clips longer in bars is to cut your vocal into shorter snippets and lay them into the PCM sampler as separate samples and then route the sampler through the vocoder. If you do not know how to route the sampler you should study the video explaining how to use the Vocoder.

I hope that this was of some help?

If my explanation is too confusing or if you need some more help you should sign up to the Caustic Forum.
It is one of the friendliest and most active forums you could be involved in plus that there is sooo much more you can get out of there as presets and samples and just good vibes and encouragement!

Have a great day and may the vocoder bless your vocals with funkiness!
