G-Stomper studio and family can now have other apps connected to it and that is great news!
But the real news is what is going on with the new Logo? Is the developer depressed and started a black ambient electro band?
Joking aside it is the New Android Oreo Adaptive App Icons.
Maybe should talk about the important thing instead?
It is a one way connection but it is the first app that does anything like this and that have taken the first step which is great. Like that G-Stomper studio is pushing the envelope all the time and there is hardly any other app that gets updated with so much goodness all the time either.
The thing is that this have been there since a year back but there was no way for him to Beta test it until now.
That is forward thinking I would say.
Okay I must admit though that did not succeed to connect any other app to it except a simple thing with a very simple synthesizer engine but it is reported that for example that Fluid Synth can be connected.
He sent me instruction this morning and they are:
To test it you need another app that acts as a midi service, e.g. midi synth ex.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobileer.midisynthexample
Just install this app, and then open/start it.
Once opened, press the home button (not the back button), so that the synth ex app keeps running.
Then start G-Stomper (you can also start G-Stomper in advance, that makes no difference).
G-Stomper will show you a pop-up and asks you if you want to use the MIDI device (in this case synth ex).
Press OK, and once you did, be sure to show up the G-Stomper SETUP / MIDI / ….. Channels, Ports (of whatever module you want to use to control the synth ex, e.g. VA-Beast Channels, Ports).
Change the channel, port mapping for the selected VA-Beast track.
By default, the OUT port is set to NONE.
Set Channel = 1, IN PORT = 1, OUT PORT = 1 and press OK.
No go to the VA-Beast main view and play the keyboard.
You should now hear the synth ex and the VA-Beast synth at once.
Long press the selected VT.., then enable the “MIDI instrument (internal sound off)” button.
Et voila… now you hear only the synth ex for this track.
So if you dear reader are doing this please let us know how it is working out in the comment section!
The other updates were:
New Android Oreo Adaptive App Icons
Optimized letterbox navigator for ultra wide screen formats (e.g. Galaxy S8)
Virtual MIDI devices (provided by other apps) are now working correctly
Updated the Ableton Link backend with the latest changes from Ableton
BPM controls in Play Menu now react correctly to minor tempo changes (+/- 0.1 bpm) coming from Ableton Link
Several minor bugfixes
