Seems to be a good investment for anyone doing broadcasts.
Just need to say that do not get iRIG recorder though as the last time I used it I got four poop up ads and this in the paid version! Which is great when you start to record an interview or similar!
Maybe Wavepad instead. Pretty flexible with a lot of interesting options for manipulating audio. And best of all no pop up ads...

Official release notes:

iRig Mic Lav — Broadcast audio goes mobile!

The lavalier mic that delivers pro quality audio, plus the ability to monitor and use 2 mics to record on 1 mobile device

Love to do web, film, television or other broadcasting types of recording? With iRig Mic Lav you can capture broadcast quality audio anywhere, any time and on any mobile device. iRig Mic Lav is an ultra-affordable, chainable mobile lavalier microphone for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android. It features an omnidirectional condenser capsule for crystal clear audio, on-board headphone monitoring output for monitoring live stream or recording levels, secure mounting clip, generous cable length and durable roadworthy design.

Chainable — Double the flexibility

What truly sets iRig Mic Lav apart is the ability to use two of them with one device to record two audio sources simultaneously, no additional hardware needed. The iRig Mic Lav features an 1/8" TRRS output that can be toggled to an input for monitoring or used to connect a second iRig Mic Lav. Users can simply set the toggle switch to “input,” and then plug a second iRig Mic Lav in to record with two microphones.

Effortless monitoring

Capturing great audio in the field requires more than just superior microphone technology. To get the best sound, you have to be able to monitor your source as its being recorded. Not all lavalier microphones come with on-board monitoring, but iRig Mic Lav does. In fact, among major brands, it's the first mobile lavalier microphone to offer this feature. It comes with a combo 1/8" TRRS port that can be used to output audio to your favorite pair of headphones. Just set the toggle switch next to the port to "monitor" and plug in your headphones, and you'll be on your way to recording effortlessly amazing audio. To monitor a dual iRig Mic Lav setup, you just need to set the switch on the second iRig Mic Lav’s jack to “monitor,” and then plug in your headphones.

Universally connectible

One thing about doing fieldwork is that you never know what device you'll have on you at any given time. This could be a problem if a microphone is specifically made for one type of device. Fortunately, with the iRig Mic Lav that issue is a thing of the past. It features an analog 1/8" TRRS jack that captures the same high-quality audio, whether it's plugged into an iPhone, iPad or Android device.

Pricing and availability

The iRig Mic Lav is available now at the IK online store, or music and electronics retailers worldwide for the low price of $/€49.99 (excluding taxes). The iRig Mic Lav 2 Pack, a bundle that comes with two iRig Mic Lavs, is available for preorder for just $/€79.99 and will ship early November.

Hey what about that image of the selfie stick and sunny enthusiasm!
