So far there has only been a little bit experimenting but it does respond well.
The canvas used have been glued with paper and then painted white as the idea was also to see if how it would work handpainted as graffiti straight on a wall.
First there was a recording straight into the telephone into PhonoPaper that got saved and exported into Virtual ANS. That is the image in the beginning of the post and the higher frequencies is cut off as it still sounded okay without and there is too much trouble to paint all the higher frequency lines...
Do not have a printer available now so imported the image into Virtual ANS but
it was slightly difficult to get it to sound exactly the same as if it would have been printed out on paper and read with PhonoPaper but at least after some general fuckeroo in Virtual ANS it sounds more or less as it would printed and read in the PhonoPaper application:
Lastly here is a video of the resulting sound of the painting.
So there is a lot of room for experimentation with paintings as it can be any size ( as long as it fits in the camera view ) and can allow for a whole new way to compose especially on larger canvases / surfaces. It would be excellent to have a bigger wall space with a ever changing composition!
Think that it is not too hard to learn to paint certain sounds as the shapes that got used in the painting are simple and is clearly reproducing the words.
Or learn shapes for certain notes / noises etc.
Want to mention that PhonoPaper in this moment of time ( August 2014 ) does not allow for video recording as there seems to be some trouble with the video files being corrupted so I did not upgrade the application as the latest upgrade took away video recording and it is true that a lot of media players do not want to play the file but it did work on some and uploaded to Youtube the video works fine obviously.
Surely Mr Nightradio will fix this soon!
And just want to express my gratitude to Mr Nightradio for inspiring me so much with his applications / programs! May you live long and surprise us over and over again!
