SPC music sketchpad / Supreme MPA / Reloop not good enough for one reason
or another it could be a very good idea to try this new application.
There is no reason to not try it out as it is for free and the only limitation is that you can only export in 22050 khz instead of 44100 khz. Plus the premium account disables the publicity
( which is pretty non-obtrusive ).
Basically what it offers is a sequencer where you can build up loops of single shot samples for melodies / chords and drum beats that you can import to a window where you trigger the created sequences or already made loops.
It comes with pitch and stretch function making it easy to adjust different loops in different bpms and the pitch will keep in tune.
Changing the pitch of the loop will also keep the bpm intact.
Anyway that is just part of the application and three other things that is less exciting but good is that it comes with a sample editor built in ( which makes sense ), audio recorder built into the sample editor and for me one thing that I like is that worked into the app is
all the ways to notate and organize your samples / loops.
It is even possible to upload your samples and projects to their website thus leaving room on your device but that is secondary as one of the main ideas is not only the app in itself but to build a strong community around the application for sharing loops and projects.
There is a lot of free sounds and loops available but as people start to use the app more you can listen to loops made by other users and pay in coins which will be around ten coins per sample and you get 1000 coins to start with. The uploader get part of the coins to buy more loops for and you have the possibility to buy a 1000 coins for a euro.
So to me it seems okay as each sample / loop would be 1 cent!
The sounds are also notated ( with all essential information ) and searchable making it very easy to find what you are looking for.
We will see how this business model works out and to be fair to the developer it protects and upkeeps their server to if there is a lot of users downloading and uploading a lot of sounds and projects.
When testing the app out the one main critique in my mind is that it was without effects
and some smaller issues but seeing their timetable of coming updates it seems that all my critiques will be taken care of.
Also one thing that could be a critique for some that is not planned is for internal synthesizer/s as it will keep to the realm of samples and loops and a workflow that revolves around that.
To make it easier for myself and for you dear reader I will just post first what the application contains now and then what is planned... plus something very important the tutorial videos as it could be a bit complex to orient yourself otherwise and they also gives a good insight into the workflow.
